BFI Website redesign

Client: British Film Institute

Dates: January - June 2013

Role: UX Researcher at ORM

In 2010 the government announced that the BFI would the single government-supported body responsible for film in the UK. This merged the numerous functions of the UK film council with the BFI, which added significant pressure to the BFI website. The BFI’s existing web platform for archives, events, funding and cinemas was inaccessible and unwieldy, and had to cope with the added pressure of housing additional funding and events preciously looked after by the film council. I was part of a team at ORM which won a tender to redesign the BFI website. ORM proposed a user-centred design approach, starting with audience research which lead to an iterative design and testing stage and looked to deliver a set of page templates and components which could be integrated into the BFI’s system.
